-Pericles convinced Athens to refuse Sparta's final offer that would have completely destroyed the Athinian empire and so they went to war.
Trade is always good:
-The Peloponnesian war was based on trading with different countries. Athens was plentiful in food and supplies while Sparta needed more. In order for that to happen, Sparta needed to trade.
People unite when they have a common enemy/People rely on each other:
-Corinth wanted Sparta to back them up when they fought Athens.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend:
-Corinth and Sparta were allies teamed up against their enemy Athens. They worked together to bring the Athinian empire down and succeded.
People trust their Leaders: -The Athinians trusted Pericles to lead them to victory. Unfortunately, their trust was discoraged when Pericles' strategy failed and crushed the entire Athinian Empire.
